Welcome to Dr. Mandal Laboratory

Open positions: We are always open to recruiting outstanding and highly enthusiastic students who are passionate and interested in biochemistry, human diseases, medicinal/organic chemistry, and drug discovery. For more information, please contact Dr. Mandal (smandal@uta.edu).

Research: The ultimate goal of my laboratory is to understand the fundamental mechanism of various human diseases including inflammatory diseases, metabolic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, and cancer, and develop effective diagnosis and treatments.

We have two major lines of projects.

  1. Chromatin Modifications and noncoding RNAs in Gene Regulation, Epigenetics, inflammation, steroid hormone signaling, and Human Disease. We study in-depth cell signaling biology and biochemistry using cultured cells, animal models, and patient sample analysis.
  2. Medicinal Chemistry and Drug discovery: Develop (deign, synthesis and screen) novel organic molecules and enzyme inhibitors targeting macrophage activation, inflammation, cardiovascular diseases and cancer (immunotherapy).
